Palace Royale

We've lived in other apartments in Halifax long-term and have NEVER had the problems we had at Templeton Properties / M & N Developments. The day we moved into one of their apartments we were told by another tenant to "document everything"- we found this odd but chalked it up to a paranoid tenant.

Turns out, he was right and we left after the first lease was over- and Joe and Mathew Metlege still threatened us with legal action (even though we fulfilled our lease agreement)- these are the kind of people you will be dealing with if you rent/lease from Templeton Properties / M & N Developments.

Not only did Matt and Joe Metlege ignore our requests for apartment repairs for an entire year (sink water lines leaked constantly, shower was not useable, dryer didn't work, door lock issue, etc) they also tried to bully us into signing an illegal fixed-term lease. Their technique is to get you to sign a fixed-term lease initially when you move in and then they will threaten rental increases if you don't re-sign another year or 2 lease (before the end of the first one).

Also, their buildings look good on the outside but in reality they are falling apart and are not maintained properly. One of their buildings heavily damaged our new car when it leaked a bunch of chemicals on the hood and roof in the underground parking- Joe and Matthew Metlege promised to pay for the damage and never did!

Joe and Matthew Metlege of Templeton properties / M & N Developments are untrustworthy, unreliable owners who care NOTHING about their tenants. They only care about squeezing every last cent from you...

If you value your possessions and sanity I would recommend that you DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM JOE OR MATTHEW METLEGE (THEY ARE THE OWNERS OF 'TEMPLETON PROPERTIES' and 'M & N Developments' and have buildings around Halifax). YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Absolutely no soundproofing between the floors. I hear every footstep and every small thing that drops on the floor above me. Horrible. Also think that these must have been smoking apartments at one time. Mini size washer and dryer in unit. Very very tight underground parking spaces.

Pretty good so far. Super's been pretty quick to fix most stuff within a day when we've asked, (leaky faucet, etc) Parking's been getting a lot better by both booting cars that don't belong to tenants, and offering free parking during the winter at another of their properties nearby.

I love this apartment. Huge, new, warm, quiet...I can never hear out neighbours. The only reason I don't give it a 5th star is because I'm not a huge fan of the area.

Correction to my last review... because they don't monitor the above parking there is never any parking...

Terrible super and apartments. We were flooded out of our apartment. It took them 4 months to fix it and we got no compensation for it. We also had our car broken into in the under ground parking. Although we have an above ground parking pass, there's never any parking because they monitor it. The super is just lazy and it'll take her months to get anything in the apartment fixed. All around, this was a terrible experience for an over priced apartment. We've had paint all over our floors from day one that we moved in from the painters and nothing has been done ab
