Saint John is a large city (population of 122,000) that has several distinct regions: the central, North, East and West sides. Each region of Saint John has it's own flavor and characteristics.
Located within the city is the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Sain't John campus. The school's Saint John campus is a little smaller than the Fredericton campus, but is responsible for bringing in thousands of undergraduate students every year.
Housing in Saint John depends largely on the area of the city. In the area surrounding UNB, student apartments are not as plentiful as in other cities. Students often elect to stay in school provided apartments / residence. Although if students don't mind a short commute, Saint John apartments and house rentals are available with a short drive.
Saint John Apartments and housing throughout the city is made up of the usual mix of private houses, small apartments, and high density apartment buildings. The city has a relatively wide array of affordability apartments available, many in the form of house and flat rentals. In contrast, venturing slightly outside of the city core to Rothesay yields more upscale houses and rentals. Similarly, accommodations along the Kennebacasis River also include upscale apartment and house rentals.
